A Zoom webinar about the next steps in land use regulation in Park County.

Park County’s planning staff began working on a proposed “Conflict Mitigation Zoning District Regulation” regulation in the Fall of 2019 . The draft of the Conflict Mitigation regulation has been the subject discussion by the Planning Board since November 2020. At its meeting in April, the County Planning Board decided to take the ordinance out to the public for discussion over the next several months and possible decision in the Fall.
Friends of Park County’s webinar will examine the draft Conflict Mitigation regulation and consider it in the context of the rapidly rising pressure for rural residential and tourist-oriented commercial development. The presenters will also examine zoning districts that have been used in Montana to curb sprawl that are worth considering for Park County.
As time allows the presenters will answer questions.
Webinar Host and Presenters
Frank Schroeder is the Board Chair and co-founder of Friends of Park County. He has been a resident of Paradise Valley since 2006 and served on the Park County Planning Board, from 2007 to 2020 including the period when the last Growth Policy was prepared and adopted.
Jecyn Bremer is a partner in the Bozeman law firm of Gallik, Bremer & Molloy. She has more than 13 years of experience with land regulation in Western Montana, including work on high impact land uses in Park County and service as Deputy County Attorney in Gallatin County working with group of Gallatin County Residents defending one of the county’s citizen initiated (Part 1) zoning districts
Randy Johnson, has just completed 31 years of service in the Gallatin County Planning Department as Lead Senior Planner and Subdivision and Zoning Manager including the development and administration of the national award-winning Springhill Zoning District.
Robert Liberty is an Oregon land use attorney and planning consultant with 40 years of planning and land regulation experience as a nonprofit attorney, elected official, county land use hearings officer and Chair of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Commission.
